The Modern Alternative to MaxMind & IPinfo

MaxMind is the industry veteran for geolocation. If you need to map a user to a specific city block for ad-targeting, they are great. But for security, they are too slow.

• The "Freshness" Gap: MaxMind relies on weekly or monthly database builds. If a new VPN node pops up today, MaxMind won't know about it until next Tuesday. IPASIS updates threat feeds continuously.
• The "Maintenance" Tax: Integrating MaxMind requires downloading, hosting, and syncing massive .mmdb files (50MB+). IPASIS is a lightweight, cloud-native API.
• The Licensing Headache: No complex EULAs or attribution requirements. Just an API key.

IPinfo is a fantastic API for infrastructure data (ASN, ISP, Carrier). However, IPASIS is built for decisions, not just data.

• Risk Scoring vs. Raw Data: IPinfo tells you what an IP is (e.g., "This is a DigitalOcean Droplet"). IPASIS tells you if it is dangerous (e.g., "This is a DigitalOcean Droplet used for spamming in the last hour").
• The "Black Box" Problem: IPinfo’s privacy detection is solid, but IPASIS provides a transparent breakdown of why an IP was flagged (Abuse feeds, Tor exit node, Open Proxy).
• Cost Efficiency: We don't charge extra for "Security Modules." Risk scoring is core to our product, not an upsell.

Many legacy providers (IP2Location, IPstack) operate on older models or aggressive upselling.

• vs. IPstack: IPstack is great for basic geolocation, but their security data is often a simple boolean (True/False). IPASIS gives you the context (Risk Score, Fraud Score, Threat Type).
• vs. IP2Location: Like MaxMind, they rely heavily on the "Download Database" model. Great for offline/air-gapped networks, but terrible for modern, connected SaaS applications.
• vs. Ipregistry: A solid competitor, but IPASIS is laser-focused on Fintech and Gaming security. Our roadmap is dedicated to anti-abuse features, not generic geo-data.
